About contact lenses for astigmatism (these lenses are called Toric contact lenses).
Having astigmatism means that one or both of your eyes have taken on a rugby ball shape. As a result, traditional, spherical contact lenses may move around while you wear them, and your vision won't be as clear as it should be.
Astigmatism causes blurry or distorted vision, because your lens or cornea is not completely spherical in shape, so light can't enter evenly. The rugby ball shape scatters the light across the back of the eye, making it difficult to see clear images.
Except for blurry vision, other symptoms of astigmatism include headaches, fatigue or eye strain, mostly after performing a task that requires focusing on something for long periods of time, such as reading or driving. If any of the above sounds familiar to you, we'd recommend arranging a visit with your optician to see if toric contact lenses are the solution for you.
Unlike round spherical lenses, toric lenses stay in place with the help of smart stabilization features like thin-thick zones, lens truncation, and ballasting, ensuring they don’t rotate and affect your vision.
Most popular brands have toric versions with a similar name so it's important to verify that the contact lens name in the webpage or the lens box says either "toric" or "for astigmatism" somewhere on it.
Toric lenses come in daily, biweekly, and monthly replacement schedules, so you can choose the schedule that works best for you.
Toric contact lenses typically cost more than regular lenses due to their specialized design for correcting astigmatism. But you will always find competitive pricing in our web shop.
Are they available in my parameters?
Note that monthly toric lenses are available in a wider range of parameters than daily contact lenses and most 1-2 week contact lenses.
We can inform that if you want Daily Lenses, which typically has just a few base curves to chose from, your eye care professional may recommend lenses that has similar (but not equal) parameters to your ideal prescription.
We also carry lenses from the manufacturer Mark Ennovy. They are more expensive than standard lenses, but are available in a huge variety of parameters.
What material are they made of?
Toric contact lenses are made of Hydrogel or silicone hydrogel. Hydrogel contact lenses stay moist, while silicone hydrogel contact lenses allow more oxygen to reach the eyes, keeping them comfortable and healthy.
Continuous wear
- Enjoy the freedom of going to bed without a contact lens routine: Some 1-2 week or monthly contact lenses can also be used as extended wear contact lenses if approved by your optician (extended wear means continuous wear for 1-2 weeks or more, depending on the contact lens type and your optician's advice).
